The idea for writing Red Door Blue Door came from a riddle that I heard as a child. I have always been intrigued about riddles and puzzles so one day I a few years ago I decided that I would write a short film based on that riddle about choices.My goal was to film the movie in San Francisco where I lived but I was getting close to retirement and decided to leave the US and move to Italy. This put my plans on hold for a while because I didn't know anyone in my area that I could get to help me. One day I met a bright young Videomaker named Paolo Campagnari. Eventually we got to talking and I eventually convinced him to help me with the film. Paolo had some friends that worked in videography and I eventually met Filippo and Andrea.  While the Crew--many of whom had never worked on a film, was slowly coming into focus, I still needed an experienced lead Actor but I didn't have the budget for one. I called my friend Tony Sommers, an accomplished Actor, and he agreed to work on the film as a personal favor. ​I contacted my good friend Karen Ruiz back in San Francisco, with whom I had worked on two films prior and she agreed to come on as the 1st Assistant Director. Having experienced folks like Karen, Tony, Paolo and Filippo made it much easier to work with an inexperienced Crew. ​Filming was initially scheduled to start in March 2024 but had to be pushed out to September. During this process I have been both surprised and impressed by the talent and skills of the Crew. Samuel Anaele did an amazing job with the costumes. Camila Gomez, whom had never acted before, blew us all away with her non-verbal acting skills. In fact the whole Crew rose to the occasion and I would gladly have any, and all, of them on my next project. ​Currently we are in the final stages of post production and the film will be ready for release in January, 2025.
